Album Notes
Mike “Seels” Seely was born in southern California in 1979 and moved to St George Utah at the age of 14. With his love for music, he took drum lessons and played in his high school jazz band. He also learned to play piano by ear and started writing his own songs while in his high school years. When Seels finally decided to learn his most desirable instrument, he ran his hand through a table saw weeks after getting his first electric guitar. After a year of healing and a couple shorter fingers, he eventually taught himself enough chords to get by. He played guitar in several bands from 2001-2007 including Stand-By and Falstaff. Having problems with lead singers, Seels decided to form Shallow Day in 2008. With brother-in-law Wes Vaughn on drums, Seels took over the vocals and songwriting, along with all other instrumentations.

Shallow Day released its debut album “Shine” in 2010, which included their youtube hit song Twilight (what have you done to my wife?). After many shows, TV and radio appearances, family and school eventually took over the lives of Shallow Day members and the band quietly fell asleep. With an arsenal of songs built up over the years from his home studio, Seels released a solo album entitled “Emotion City” in 2011.

In 2013, Seels released his follow up album entitled “Amateur Battle” consisting heavy heart-pounding songs about life and the beautiful struggles it entails.
