Album Notes
Kathrin started her career as 'Kathy King', in Greenwich Village, when the folk music scene was at its peak. In high school, she took the subway to Manhattan every weekend and sang in the coffeehouses. She hooked up with some other young singers and musicians, and this became the Au Go Go Singers. The group made one LP, They Call Us Au Go Go Singers, for Roulette Records. One song was released as a single and climbed the charts in Ohio and Texas, but this wasn't enough to keep the group together, and they went their separate ways. There's a new book (http://www.booksoncsn.com) about Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young that devotes a long chapter to the evolution and dissolution of the Au Go Go Singers. The album was recently re-released on CD and, in addition to the early stylings of Stephen Stills, Richie Furay and more, features Kathrin's beautiful clear soprano voice.

She toured as one of two backup singers with Bobby Vinton (Blue Velvet), a tour that included the Copacabana in New York, the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles, and an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. After that, Kathrin (then named Kathrin King) spent a happily shameless year in the scandalous Broadway show, Oh! Calcutta! She began writing songs with guitarist/singer Charlie Brown. Two of her songs appeared on his first album, Up From Georgia. Kathrin's career took a turn into musical theater and cabarets - and a name change to her original, Kathrin King Segal. She worked as a lyricist with composer Ken Collins and later turned to writing fiction. Her novel, Wild Again, was published by Dutton, and is out of print but still available (try Amazon).

Three years ago, she returned to her folk roots and wrote many of the songs for her first CD, appropriately called Better Late Than.... It's a collection of moody, humorous and eclectic folk songs, beautifully sung by a seasoned artist.

simply put, a gem of an album !
this is one of the few albums i would recommend across the board to anyone who loves the genre. the songs are a treat to listen to, running the gamut from the sweet and sensitive to the toe tapping and humorous. this album is the product of a sophisticated musician/songwriter and is sure to delight anyone with an auditory canal (or two!).
