Where the Rivers Meet

by Sense of Values Quartet & John Ehlis

A thread of lyricism runs throughout this recording of improvised and composed music. With a rare sensitivity and depth, this group of artists successfully merge the spirit of Spanish and American music traditions into something all their own.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lead by cellist Amalia L. Chueca and pianist Jose Ignacio Hernández, the Sense of Values Quartet is a jazz group based in Granada, Spain, a cultural mecca in Andalusia with a long and varied history in the world and in the arts. Combining artistic forces with New York area guitarist John Ehlis, they have collaborated together for nearly a decade in a variety of settings and this recording marks their first release together.

In the silence as much as in the sounds, this music breathes, there is a spirit to it, and a moment which can be heard again and again.
