“If ever a new musical could be said to “have legs” , it’s Serial Killer Barbie, a show that could easily become a college theater department favorite and (with a certain amount of raunch-reduction) make every high school’s must-do list—and every high school student’s must-see list as well.” – Steven Stanley, Stage Scene LA

funny and poignant
i was lucky enough to see the original cast and band perform these songs SKB's run... i was a tad worried that the energy, comedy, emotion and power of the songs might be lost on a soundtrack recording... i was totally wrong. the songs retain their humor and energy and all of the richness of the instrumentation was even better on the album. all the songs have a distinct voice that i found completely charming and disarming live and the album has found a way to deliver all of those things. while there are very funny and upbeat numbers all over this, there are some songs that i can listen to over and over and still feel those same tingles that i felt in person. the music has a way of pulling you in and finding a way of reaching into an emotional place inside you.... you are laughing one minute, feeling a genuine moment the next. there is a beautiful blend of humor and poignancy that is certainly not easy to pull off. but they've done it here.
can't wait to hear more from this collaboration.

LOVE these songs!
I saw this show in 2014 and LOVED it! My favorite part of the show, hands down, was the music - the cast and the musicians totally killed it. So I was thrilled to hear these songs again! My favorite songs are "Paperbag Lunch" and "Give Me A Chance." Seriously, "Give Me A Chance" gives me chills! But the whole album maintains the energy and joy of the live performance, so I'm downloading the whole thing. Very glad it's available!
