ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Singer-songwriter Seth Coluzzi is based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he attends graduate school for music alongside performing, songwriting, and recording. Seth grew up in rural upstate NY in a very musical family and started playing the piano and guitar (among other things) at a young age. Although he had played in several bands through high school and college, Seth began songwriting after moving to NC in 2000. Two years later, he began performing as a solo artist in coffeeshops and bars on the East coast. In these past years, Seth has developed an extensive repertoire of songs and a devoted fanbase, both of which continue to grow prolifically.

Seth's music is poetic, engaging, and filled with true aspects of life, all delivered through the sounds of the acoustic guitar and vocals. Every song seems to capture a different world of perspective and sound, that is never bogged down by monotony or triteness. Seth's first CD, Shining Through, offers a glimpse into this world with eight songs that embody unique personalities of their own, and that are musically innovative and well-crafted.

Shining Through was recorded, mixed, and mastered in Chapel Hill, NC by Seth Coluzzi and John Brackett, who also plays drums on four of the songs. It is dedicated to Seth's brothers, Tory and Matthew.

Seth's CD is original and refreshing
This is a great CD. With only acoustic guitar and vocals (and drums on four tracks), Seth takes a very naturalistic approach, not relying on layers of instrumentation and studio production - which would only seem to get in the way of the songwriting. The lyrics are impressive (especially "Midnight in Boston" and "Imaginary Girlfriend"), and the songs are all unique. "Galaxy" is simply an awesome song that will stay in your head for days; "Give it up" is raw and aggressive. I recommend this CD: it's got something for everyone.

Seth's music is neither poetic nor inspiring.
This CD is a lame excuse for music. Each song fails to live up to the CD's preface of being "a different world of perspective and sound"-- rather, they all contain the same weak vocals and clumsy acoustic guitar playing. The lyrics lack meaning and the drums serve as a distraction. Don't waste your money on this CD.

this is a great CD
I just bought this CD after seeing Seth Coluzzi live, and it's awesome to hear that it has the same live sound and energy. The music is creative and the lyrics are honest and well-written. I'd definitely recommend this CD (and catching one of Seth's shows) if you're into acoustic music with good lyrics.
