Album Notes
In May of 2005 John Hult wrote a story in the Alibi about Reggae Dancehall in NM. “I'm taken aback. Remo is a...guy with a quiet, polite demeanor. His speaking voice is hushed. Had he not pointed it out, I'd never guess that the deep baritone voice coming from the speakers is his” (Hult, 2005).

Sgt. Remo was born in Juarez, Mexico and raised in El Paso, TX where he caught the reggae train in ‘89 when he was introduced to the dancehall music of the late 80’s and early 90’s. From there he was hooked! It took a few years for him to learn more about the music and culture. In ‘98 he moved out of El Paso. This was an eye opening experience giving him an opportunity to look outside of his small community. He realized people from all over the world experience the same struggles regardless of their background, culture, or social status. This, he realized, is the unity of Reggae music!

From ‘99 to ‘01 he recorded with Empire Soundz’ Ali and Mistah Blaze recording several solid dancehall tunes. In 2004 Remo ended up in Albuquerque, NM. There he linked up with German/New Mexican reggae pioneer Don Martin, who was like a mentor to him. Don Martin (Brotherhood Sound System) was running a steady session at Burt's Tiki Lounge in Albuquerque during ‘05. At Burt’s Remo sharpened his skills performing his early songs taking turns on the mike with Mister Kali.

In ‘07 Sgt. Remo backed Mr. Kali at the Santa Fe Musik Festival featuring about 100 worldwide artists during the three day festival including Burning Spear, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, Collie Budz, War, George Clinton, and many more. This was Remo’s first experience on that scale and the music EXPLODED from there on! In late ‘07 and early ‘08 Sgt. Remo & Mister Kali performed many shows in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM. They built a solid fan base which led to many successful shows culminating with a spring tour with Original General Smiley (from hall of fame duo "Michigan & Smiley"). On this tour they performed in numerous cities in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. After the tour Mr. Kali and Sgt. Remo were highly requested throughout the southwest performing almost weekly in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and a few shows in El Paso, TX.

In 2010 Sgt. Remo was featured in Mister Kali's debut album "Step Fast" with the song "Loving Loving", a remake of an earlier Sgt. Remo Empire Soundz combination tune. This version of "Loving Loving" received great reviews and was Sgt. Remo's first official release.

In 2011 Sgt. Remo released the first album "Reggae SoulJahs Worldwide Vol. 1" from his label Jah Yutes Entertainment. This compilation album features the music of General Smiley (Michigan & Smiley), Ken Serious (Flames Crew), Mister Kali, Sgt. Remo, and DJ Yahru El Guru. Sgt. Remo toured with the Reggae SoulJahs Worldwide Camouflage tour (a 12 city US tour in the summer of 2011). The tour was a major success with great shows in Austin, TX; Taos, NM; Lincoln, NE; Neenah, WI; Cleveland, OH; and Harrisonburg, VA.
