Album Notes
Long Island's own WHITE SHABBOS combine the melodic velocity of NOFX with the swagger of Johnny Cash, the rudeboy shuffle of Desmond Dekker and Irish two-step of Flogging Molly. At the heart of it all is a relentless optimism inspired by the teachings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.

Emerging in 2004 from a backdrop of spontaneous home-studio experimentation and post-Shabbos afterglow, the debut album, "Shabbos Holy Shabbos", earned the band a selection as "Best Jewish Music" of 2005 by Leslie Bunder of somethingjewish.com.

A new album, "Redemption Songs" is in the production stages and will be released when the time is right.

A spin-off project, THE MR. SHABBOS SHOW, starring WHITE SHABBOS member MR. SHABBOS, is scheduled for release in Summer 5767/2007. www.myspace.com/mrshabbos

Essentially, a jewish "Flogging Molly"!
This stuff is insane, in a good way!

White Shabbos is very reminiscient of an Irish punk band called Flogging Molly. They combine the old world sounds with the mandolins and the alte heimish tunes. Mingle this with punk and you've got one hell of a good time!

The only reason they get a 3 instead of 4 star rating is because of the kinda low fi sound. I'm not big on their recording quality. I'm sure these guys are a riot at one of their live shows! Cool Stuff guys, keep it up!

Its a fun CD but way too short, only a half an hour??

Musical Shabbat for all
Relaxing and appealing music of many sources origin, unfortunately in low budget recordings. If you read the booklet then you can think its from a Jewish bigot - but listen to the happy sound of the music and you'll understand and accept. 4 of the songs are interesting workings of well-known standards, the other ones are written by Michael Wagner. Let's hope for continuation!

White shabbos is real dope. Josh Alpert is the F-in man. Hes a nuts musician, and i suggest everyone and their mom buy this cd. The band is real tight, and together. you can get a good taste of the love these guys have for the music when you listen to them play. seriously .. just buy the cd .. you'll understand!

Wow! Great soul and ruach! Innovative and deep in spirit!
Great! -- organic, innovative, and spiritual with a slight punk twist. This is certainly out of the ordinary, yet it is accessible to all. It has a slight edge to it, yet the music always remains within limits that clearly indicate that the band respects the traditional sources it draws upon. The recording is slightly lo-fi, but even that seems to work in its favor in a grass roots kind of way. I want to invite them all for a Shabbos cholent.

Bloody Awesome!!!
Shabbos Holy Shabbos rocks. Its very catchy. Some of the music sounds like Sublime style, but in its own unique way. My husband and I are listening to it right now dancing around. My personal favorite is White Donkey/Ki Va Moed with the Seigel Brothers. Rock On
