this girl's on the rise
I heard this new artist at a local open mic and fell in love with her voice. I'm so glad her songs are available to the public! I downloaded "Promises" first and have almost memorized all the words - we've all felt the pain she sings about in it. The other cut? Well, we can always stand to be reminded to watch our words. Shamika tells us to do so in such a sweet, melodious way. Her sound "feels" classic and clean, no running up and down the octave to camoflauge poor vocals. Her style is contemporary yet edgy enough to make her stand out. I think this girl is on the rise!
