As heard on: Indie 103.1FM (LA),
XM Radio, Muzak, Pandora Radio, (Cerritos College Radio), & the CDBaby Podcast.

Handpicked as one of Rolling Stone’s top 25 best bands on MySpace, Shannon Hurley has released her highly anticipated debut full length album. “Ready to Wake Up” is already receiving airplay on Indie 103.1FM and XM Radio. “I put my heart and soul into this record. The reason it took so long to release a full length, quite honestly, is because I wanted to wait until I had a good enough collection of songs to make it worth the listener’s while. I think I accomplished that”, she says. Her alternative pop style has often been compared to Aimee Mann and Sarah McLachlan, but her songwriting and singing have lifted her to a place that is completely her own.

“Ready to Wake Up” is a pop record that pulls in a little help from Shannon’s heavy-hitting friends: KCRW favorite Carmen Rizzo, as well as Guy Erez (producer/writer for Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Sarah Bettens, and Ryan Cabrera) pitch in to make this album shine.

This Indiana-born musician has been playing music all her life, being brought up in a family of singers. Picking up piano at age 8, she then moved on to trombone. She graduated with a music degree from University of Colorado at Boulder, where she became the stage manager for Fox Theatre. After working in this capacity with Julian Lennon, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, and Rufus Wainright, she became enamored with songwriting. She studied with Pat Leonard (hit songwriter for Madonna) and moved to Los Angeles is 2001.

Shannon is also a sought-after session musician and spent 2005 touring with Universal Motown artist Brie Larson. This has given her the opportunity to open (with Brie\'s band) for Jesse McCartney, Gwen Stefani, The Black-Eyed Peas, and Gavin DeGraw. Currently she is touring to promote her album \"Ready to WakeUp\". She can also be seen playing keyboards and singing backup for international artist Marina V. In addition to these accomplishments, she is also co-founder for \"Don\'t Call Us Tori!\" (, a showcase for quality women singer-songwriters. These shows are held in L.A. venues such as the Hotel Cafe, the Derby, and Tangier.

Shannon was recently commissioned to write a song for the Getty Center exhibit, the Zuccaro Drawings, in which Frederico Zuccaro depicts the struggle of his artist brother Taddeo. Shannon performed at the Getty alongside Tom Freund, Jim Bianco, Beth Thornley, Priscilla Ahn, and Libbie Schrader.

Currently Shannon is compiling an album of remixes, of which over 400 versions of her songs from “Ready to Wake Up” have been lovingly embraced by the remix community. Expect the album to surface in the Winter of 2008. You can hear previews here:

Her full-length debut. \"Ready to Wake Up\", is available on iTunes and CD Baby.

great CD
Ready to Wake Up is a great CD especially if you like melodic piano driven songs. I'm a big fan of girls who play piano and sing like Norah Jones, Vanessa Carlton, and Keri Noble so if you enjoy their music you'll probably like this CD! I especially like Shame, Breaking Down, and Where I Stand.

Ready to Wake Up
Shannon's new CD is a wonderfully warm upbeat CD, full of bright, catchy tunes, containing multiple windows into the soul of this very talented young artist. I've been unable to put this CD down. No overblown production, this CD has a purity that draws you in and inspires.

The 1st track, "Matter of Time," powerfully launches her vocal and instrumental talents, while speaking to the desire for love and attracting "the One." "Shame" lays her heart open for all to see and sympathize with, while "Breaking Down" (two different versions) covers the uncertainty of love and vunerability. "Overboard" is a light, fun tune that brings to mind the songs and vocals of Karen Carpenter, whereas "We Are In Love" invokes the airy bossa nova feeling of Astrid Gilberto and Brazil 66 from the same era. "Where I Stand" is her most powerful song, speaking up for the empowerment found in great relationships. "Garden Path," about the joys of love, has the most "modern" sound, with some nice synthesizers providing the backdrop for the sweetness of her vocals. "Silence" and "Try Again Today" are Shannon's powerful paeons to what might have been, highlighting her strongest vocals on the CD.

With songs ranging from sheer joy to heartache, but always full of hope, Shannon hits the chords that melt your heart. And I'll echo Francisco's comment about hearing her live. Sheer unadulterated pleasure!

I bought Shannon's "Ready to Wake Up" CD, and I obsessed over playing it while riding the metro. Her voice is soft and sweet, her music restorative and gentle. It is a great pleasure to listen to her music live, here in Los Angeles. As for the rest of you all, Shannon will be playing San Diego, and she was in the East Coast recently. Check her out, if you have an opportunity.
Cheers to all.

I wonder if it is possible to wear out a CD from playing it so much! I will be putting "Ready To Wake Up" to the test. Shannon is completely amazing and awesome with the most beautiful voice and mesmerizing songs. If I looked up extraordinary in the dictionary I would find a pic of her right there.

If there is one CD to add to your collection or give as a gift, this one is a must.....eleven spectacular tracks, each one memorable and delightful.

Shannon is a gifted artist with a rare ability to touch your head, heart and soul. Every song is captivating and enchanting. 5 stars is an understatement - this CD has 11 stars!
