ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With “Enchantment”, Shanua extend their previous productions to include a 6-piece chamber ensemble and 12-voice chorus, and feature many new original works scored for the group. Building on the success of a benefit concert for the Cleveland Foodbank in June 2012, which was both very well attended and received, Shanua have recorded 15 new titles, most of which were featured in that concert.

“Enchantment” is presented in four movements – Journey, Enchantment, Hope and Reflection – which broadly map overall to the life experience, and evoke a sense of the stages of a journey, allowing the listener to enjoy the music in extended and related groupings rather than each track as a discrete and independent piece. The album’s musical coloring is extensive, ranging from a sparse and minimalist Irish slow air played on solo flute, to an Estonian poem set for soprano and string trio, love songs both joyous and mysterious, and a rousing anthem set for chorus and instruments.
