Album Notes
The Shark Alley Hobos have been entertaining Bay Area audiences with songs of the sea for years. Their raucous St. Patrick’s Day gigs have become as legendary as their outlandish birthday party appearances.

While years of sea faring have taken their toll on the band members, they have remained a tight crew, bound by a common obsession: sharks and the movie Jaws. Knowing it would be a cold day in Davy Jones’ Locker before they were asked to write songs for Jaws: The Musical, they decided they should pay tribute to the movie that has haunted their dreams since 1975.

And so we have “Off the Deep End with the Shark Alley Hobos: a Musical Tribute to Jaws”. Their original songs bring back traumatic memories of the film that helped shape their lives. The opening tune “The Deep End” vividly recalls the imagery that was imprinted on their impressionable brains upon first watching the movie. “Here’s to Swimmin” is destined to be a new sing-a-long favorite at their shows and beach bonfires. The haunting “Quint’s Lament” will send shivers up your timbers. A New Orleans vibe permeates “The Water’s Fine”. Get ready to compare scars as you listen to “Mary Ellen Moffit Broke my Heart”. “Harpoon, a Knife, a Gun” remenbers the mechanical shark that just wanted to be a real fish. “She Was the First” is a funky take on a Great White’s infatuation and hunger. The terror instilled in kids lives in the seemingly innocent “Marco Polo”. Everyone has a say in the fatalistic ballad “Just What I Do.” As added bonuses, the “Downtown/Spanish Ladies Medley” brings back memories of Jaws 2 and Robert Shaw, while “Show Me The Way to Go Home” recreates the sing-a-long made famous by the movie and infamous by the Shark Alley Hobos. Finally, as a bizarre ending only the Hobos would dream up, “Ode to a Celluloid Masterpiece” not only pays tribute to Jaws, but to Ernie Kovacs’ beloved cult character from the 1950s, Percy Dovetonsils.

Get your sea legs, grab a friend, and set sail on a musical tribute as only the Shark Alley Hobos can deliver…
