As some of you know, Shar has been writing music for a long time. The songs started coming while growing up at Camp Livingstone in Quebec. And they kept coming as she worked towards a B.A. at Briercrest College.
But life got busy living in Vancouver and even busier over in Eastern Europe at Lithuania Christian College. Back in Canada, although there were many blessings, life was filled with many struggles. For a variety of reasons her creative projects were set aside.
In the past five years, however, while living on the Prairies and spending time in the Eastern Townships, the music has really begun to flow. With over 130 songs in various stages of development, it's time to share some of her music with a larger audience.
In the introduction to Misfits & Moonbeams, Sharlene writes:
“At 40 plus years of age, I am under no illusion that I have life all figured out. So far, life has not gone according to my five-year plan, my ten-year plan, or my life plan for that matter. Like a story that twists and turns, my years have been full of surprises – some good, some bad. But through all of it there has been an undercurrent of overwhelming beauty. In spite of great disappointment, loneliness, loss and pain, beauty has been there – a beam of light illuminating a greater hope. So I give these songs away. They are part of my story. But they are also part of the human story, part of your story: For beauty touches every life.”
Many of her songs offer little glimpses of heaven down here on earth and hope in the midst of hard times.
