ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The concept of a “New Bottom Line” comes from the Network of Spiritual Progressives (NSP). A “New Bottom Line” calls for equal balance among the three pillars of sustainability (social, economic and environmental). But in addition, it has a deeper dimension: to support and enhance our abilities as a society to be respectful, loving, kind, generous, and caring toward others, as well as ethically and ecologically sensitive in our personal and societal behavior. We resonate enthusiastically with this vision for our world and are inspired to support it with our music.

Sharon was inspired to write the song "The Left Hand of God" upon reading Rabbi Michael Lerner’s book of that title. I decided to see if she could capture the essence of the book in a 4-minute song. Rabbi Lerner approves! The song can also be heard on the NSP and Tikkun websites. We also encourage folks to check out the Environmental and Social Responsibility Amendment (ESRA), the NSP’s proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

This CD evolved over a number of years. Although the songs are not new, the CD was finally professionally reproduced and packaged in a digipak featuring two paintings by our friend Susan Slapiin. The songs reflect our vision for the kind of world we want to help bring about, and some ideas that could help us get there.
