ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The first thing you're asking is: -

"Why the hell is this called *Cut Down Mix 91*? - Like it's 2014 and the track has absolutely nothing to do with cutting anything down - even though there are chopped down trees on the cover..."

Yeah, I guess I'll cover that point first: -

I spent quite a long time creating this piece; and what I ended up with was a 5 1/2 minute song with 5 verses. I know my music has in the past tended to run to around about 5 to 6 minutes per track, but I listened to this one and I got bored towards the end. It's my music, so if I'm getting bored then my listeners will have turned off totally by that point. I needed to make it interesting, and as I played it over and over I noticed that the song was basically complete after verse 3, around 3 1/2 minutes in... So I cut it down... I cut it down in size by removing almost half of it, and to my mind it sounds great. I didn't have a good title sorted out at that time, the mix was code-named *Mixdown91* - so, well you can quite easily work out the rest of the process.

Yes it might not be the best title, but for want of something better that's what it's called; *Cut Down Mix 91*. The cut-down trees on the cover were obvious props that just begged to be used in light of the title, and they indeed were as you can see.

What's the purpose of this song then? What is it about, and what mood and feelings is it supposed to convey?

It's about waking up on a sunny morning, around about the release-date, and being enthused by the fact that it's a new day. The nocturnal activities of the past night are cleanly reminisced throughout the lyrical dialogue; but the song ends with the hope of a new day: It's a blank sheet, a clean page that is only affected by whatever you add to it. - Every day is a new way, a new opportunity. Each sunrise is golden; not just in colour, but also in value: Every day is unique and will never come again; you only get the one shot at it - I'm trying not to go all JLS here - a single chance to make the best of it.

Let's take a look at the lyrics - which you'll also find on my website, although maybe nearer to the actual release-date than the time of writing: -

Ice Recordings – August 2014 – Cut Down Mix 91 (Another Day) – Lyrics by Sharron-Idol

1)
The sunlight strikes me as I wake,
As the night-clouds drift away.
The church-bells sounding from afar,
An announcement of the day.
The shade of life still damps my gown,
A legacy of nocturnal sweat.
The beauty laying next to me,
Treasured memories that are kept.

2)
A different fragrance fills the room,
A scent of lust of passions spent.
When fever eats the ragged rock:
The chains unlock, the heaven-sent.
The sparks that arc between the two of us.
Give out heat that warms the air.
Cuddled up in sensual folds,
In bands of gold with love to share.

3)
The garments strewn across the floor,
Indicate ignition's source,
With daylight back-lighting the blinds,
A trail of the last night's course.
Emerging from our warm cocoon,
As sunlight burns the clouds away.
We kiss and rise to meet the dawn;
On this, another morn, another day.

*You might be curious to know what I cut off the end: There were another 2 verses - verse 4 was like a motivational speech, and verse 5 was a repeat of verse 1. These verses aren't included in the recording as described here, and I've no intention of including them in any remix or re-release; but for the sake of your curiosity I've disclosed them below.

4)
A-rise, as-cend up to the skies;
A-nother day, a – nother sto-ry.
A-chieve your dreams more than be-fore;
May your schemes all end in glory.
Each day will bring a-nother way;
Another page, a – nother chance.
Through-out each day plan for tomorrow:
Think a-head, think in ad-vance.

5) [Repeat of v1.]
The sunlight strikes me as I wake,
As the night-clouds drift away.
The church-bells sounding from afar,
An announcement of the day.
The shade of life still damps my gown,
A legacy of nocturnal sweat.
The beauty laying next to me,
Treasured memories that are kept.

'Inspirational? - 'Maybe, but the extra verses simply didn't compliment the first 3 verses, and they made the song drag on. - Hence the reason the mix was cut down. I hope you enjoy listening to my mix, and that it brightens up your day.

How did I end up with that tune? (You may like it - or not as the case may be.) - Well if I told you everything you'd be as wise as me; and we can't have that now can we? ;)

Peace. x
