Brexit / Old Star Re-Release

by Sharron-Idol

The addition of Britain in turmoil, without the EU but with great electronically-inspired instrumentals, makes this EP well worth a listen.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In June 2016 the people of the UK made one Hell of a huge uninformed decision, based upon their own insecurity, ignorance of economic facts, and the lies of self-interested politicians - coupled with the mis-manipulation of political subterfuge by a governent who promised them too much in order to silence a growing Euroskeptic political party lead by a bumbling egocentric semi-racist oaf and likeminded dissenters within their own party.

Another bumbling oaf; a former mayor who was Eaton-educated and from within the governmental party, on a power-trip run by a conniving backstabbing prime-ministerial wannabe, handed Farage his dream on a plate when the ill-informed and semi-educated masses finally voted against the IN campaign of PM David Cameron, and his political gamble failed as the country's currency plummeted in value on the international exchange markets.

The UK now has a new, woman, Prime Minister; and the machismo-istic internal Eaton-inspired power-struggle came to a head resulting in the former PM losing his job by resigning. The Uk is still dedicated to Brexit however, and now more Euro-skeptically orientated than ever.

What will happen? What lies in store for this island nation that has basically chosen to go it alone? Will the initial turmoil eventually change and result in prosperity?

I live in the UK as a UK Citizen; so I really do hope that I haven't created a a tuneful propheticism fortelling economic doom. 0_0

The lyrics of my song * Brexit * are as follows: -

Brexit
Lyrics by Sharron-Idol June through August 2016. Track Copyright Sharron-Idol/Ice Recordings 2016.

Chorus X 2:
Brex-i-i-it.
We should have thought before we voted for it.
Brex-i-i-it.
Now there’s no exit.
Brex-i-i-it.
The peo-ple made an un-in-formed de-cis-ion.
Brex-i-i-it.
‘No Brexit Exit.

Verse 1:
London Bridge is falling down and all the peo-ple ga-ther round.
Ev-er-y-bo-dy who ab-stained wi-shes they’d vo-ted for Remain.
Mar-ket vol-a-til-ity brings fi-nan-cial un-cer-tain-ty.
Our cre-dit ra-ting goes away as we’re re-listed dou-ble A.

Verse 2:
En-gland’s va-lue plummets down now. - Crash! - there goes the British Pound now.
Ol’ George Os-bourne spoke of doom in-side a po-wer vac-cu-u-um.
Bo-ris John-son ga-thers pace as Da-vid Ca’ron loses face.
‘Trade de-clines in a-ny case. The To-ry lea-der is re-placed.

Verse 3:
No-one knows quite where it ends and Scot-land wants a ref-er-en-dum.
Nor-thern Ire-land starts to wo-rry. Jun-kers wants UK to hu-rry.
In-t’rest rates to spur inf-la-tion. Di-ffi-cult ne-go-ti-ations.
Eu-ro-pe-an men in Brus-sels flex their di-plo-matic mus-cles.

Verse 4:
Mi-chael Gove stabbed Bo-ris John-son in the back in cuck-oo nest plot.
Tel-e-phone rings for Sir Lyn-ton “Strike the i-ron while the tip’s hot.”.
Run a-round like head-less chick-ens: No one rea-lly has a clue.
‘Try Theresa as the lea-der; may-be she’ll know what to do?

Verse 5:
Gove used Cam’ron’s re-fer-en-dum. Gove used Pow’r-mad Bo-ris John-son.
Fa-rage and the Eu-ro-skep-tics caused a wound that’s go-ing sceptic.
Dave was brave, George pulled the strings and planned out re-fer-en-dum things.
Car-ney drops the in-t'r-est rates. Strea-king stu-dents. - ‘All too late.

Verse 6:
Still the Pound is go-ing down. The-re-sa’s cam-paign’s off the ground.
Fa-rage quits be-cause he’s weird. Bo-ris John-son’s dis-app-eared.
May then has her ha-ppy hour as she takes up the To-ry po-wer.
Bo-ris John-son back again: The Fo-reign O-ffice feels the pain.

Verse 7:
Now in-fla-tion starts to rise. - the Pound is weak so no sur-prise.
They march while chanting “We were lied to.”. - Pres-sure buil-ding up in-side you.
To-ries, La-bour, Lib-er-al Dems. - Who?! UKIP - waste of space a-gain.
One of them or one of us has pain-ted lies on an om-ni-bus.

Verse 8:
London Town is falling down. The City - there’s no-one a-round.
In streets that once e-choed with sound; fi-nan-cial tra-dings did a-bound.
En-gland is stan-ding by itself. E-co-no-my run out of wealth.
They pulled the plug on the National Health. Pros-per-ity is on the shelf.

Chorus X 2:
Brex-i-i-it.
We should have thought before we voted for it.
Brex-i-i-it.
Now there’s no exit.
Brex-i-i-it.
The peo-ple made an un-in-formed de-cis-ion.
Brex-i-i-it.
‘No Brexit Exit.

Beat continues several bars and fades to link.
Link continues several bars and fades through to double-chorus-piece.
Finally, as the song ends and the music winds up the chorus is sung again to end the whole work.

-------

The other tracks on this EP are a re-release of both the original version (Single - January 2014) and the Calitopia Mix version (From my album * I'm A person, Not A Genre' * - Summer 2014) of my release titled * Old Star *. The lyrics are listed both in the notes of those releases on CD Baby - in boring plain text format, as well as on my website at buggerallon.tv - or sharronidol.com - in a better rich-text format. I see no need to repeat them here; however I'm sure you'll like the tune itself, even if without knowing the lyrics: It borders on a flamenco, with electronic strains and intercessions, yet it is upbeat and warming.

Enjoy. x
