Album Notes
Shawna Caspi is a solo singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Canada, with a powerful voice and serious guitar chops. With a commanding stage presence and an inviting charm, she doesn’t need a band to deliver an engaging and energetic show. She has all the sound she needs under her fingertips, with a remarkable fingerstyle guitar technique. Shawna’s playful wit and sense of a seasoned storyteller makes each performance intimate and captivating, no matter the size of the room. She has played in venues from cafes to soft-seat theatres, from living rooms to festival stages.

Apartments for Lovers is Shawna’s third full-length album, released in August 2014. In contrast to her first two CDs, which featured a collection of session players and elaborate arrangements, this new album is a solo guitar and voice record. Shawna’s elegant fingerpicking and warm voice are showcased in this project, resulting in a recording that’s close-up and honest.

“Shawna Caspi has the rare gift of presence, a warm presence that immediately invites audience engagement, from the first strum of her skilled guitar playing to the last exquisite note she sings. Shawna’s lyrics show, her music and delivery tell; her songs are beautiful stories that stay with listeners long after the CD is spun, long after the gig is over.” – Andy Frank, co-founder of Roots Music Canada

“A skilled composer and lyricist; her haunting voice and stunning guitar accompaniment round out this complete folk package. Her personal stories, both humorous and poignant, are told seamlessly through her intriguing lyrics and between-song banter. Every song is a narrative whose clever rhymes and unexpected musical structures ensure that the audience listens to every word, from beginning to end.” – Joanna Mills, O’Hara House Concerts

One of those "I'll have to get their next CD as well" artists
I always remember seeing Shawna for the first time at an afternoon historical event in Rockwood in the pouring rain (we were among a small handful of people in the audience at that time )and since then I have acquired all of her CD's. Each one is a work of art in itself with the design of the cover. Then on each there always seems to be at least one song that I can especially feel drawn into very emotionally. Just like the song "Paint By Numbers" , on this latest CD it is "This Is The End Of It". I will definitely plan my "festivals" to include such artists as Shawna whose performances are extraordinary.

I've been a fan of Shawna Caspi for too short a time. Discovered her music two years ago and love her songwriting. So honest. Poetic. And oh what a voice.

Cascading Melodies and Sequential Pleasantries
I have appreciated Shawna's music for over three years now. I own all of her albums and her initial EP. I can honestly say that I have been taken aback in the most pleasant way at her growth, maturity, and development as an artist. She has a wonderful way of telling a very personal and tangible story without being overbearing, but always accompanied by intricate guitar segments and sequences. Her musical training in classical guitar shines through on each and every song on every album. But her heart is wide open for story-telling and learning through her lyrics if you are willing. For me, her music is perfect for relaxation, reflection, travel, and a subtle sunset with a not-so-subtle bottle of wine after a rigorous day. Already, I look forward to Shawna's next projects, performances, and overall contributions as an artist. Her latest album "Apartments for Lovers" is a 'must' purchase. Add it to your collection along with her Paint by Numbers and Skyline. Songs such as Anchor, The Love I Know, This is the End of It, Grace, and my personal favorite I'm Trying to Leave from he latest album will have you seeking more.
