Album Notes
'Ventures to Serenity' offers a soothing transition into a more peaceful state of mind. Each piece is an original composition by Shea Van Boskirk. Piano and cello are the primary instruments, with accents from other strings, harp, or hand bells on certain tracks.

Through travels and hiking, she has encountered many of the world's great summits, vistas, trails, animals, landscapes, and waterways. She finds serenity and draws inspiration from these experiences: Kilimanjaro's turquoise glaciers, Norway's fjords, Andean peaks and deserts, Easter Island's craters and pastures, England's fens and moorland, Ireland's coast, Bolivia's salt flats, Arizona's canyons, Namibia's sand dunes, Rwanda's gorillas, the Appalachian trail. Each experience holds a unique serenity that comes in stages: the excitement of the dream, the concentration of planning, the exertion of the journey, the awe of arrival, the gratitude of memory.

The pieces in this album are both retrospective and creative, intended to soothe, renew, lighten, and inspire. Deep peace exists in nature and in music. Holding peace in ourselves, we infuse this into our endeavors and relationships. Lifting our eyes to broader horizons, we live better, more beautiful, purposeful lives. May we tell the best possible stories with our days on this planet. And may we savor the richness of existence.
