Soul searching
Ms Mc Donald is a keen insightful storyteller and she provides us with some great soul searching music. I very much enjoyed this entire album as well as her previous one, This Way. Great listening!!! I highly recommend them both.

Half Light
I was lucky enough last year to find Sheila Mac Donald’s 2010 CD This Way in Newbury Comics and loved it. Now she comes out with Half Light and it’s just as good. The same element is back, with somber, picturesque stories set against Ms. Mac Donald’s dulcet voice and gentle melodies. Every track is a delight, from the opener, Light House Keeper’s Daughter, to the final, The Black Hole, a tribute to her former friend and songwriting teacher Jack Hardy, who passed away in 2011. All in all a great recording, with solid production values and intriguing lyrical content. Listen and you will be moved.

Simplistic Depth
Sheila Mac Donald's second album, Half Light, is a testament to the power of simplicity. The contrast between Ms.
Mac Donald's simple lyric and melodic styles and the thematic complexity of each song inspires a beautiful, tugging
sensation within the listener. Ms. Mac Donald zooms in on stories, people, places, and aspects of nature to speak
poignantly to larger meanings with each song. Anyone with an appreciation for the somber beauty of life will certainly
enjoy Ms. Mac Donald's work.

Shine On
Sheila holds a gift for weaving the words into a soulful tapestry that transcends time and generation.
The songwriting, singing and production shine on this work. This album is what I needed to hear today.

contemporary folk at its best
A fine release by this talented Massachusetts singer/songwriter. Her craft for songwriting is evident here, with lyrics that evoke vivid imagery of the gritty characters who inhabit the dark places she so exquisitely captures. Credit also goes to the excellent work of renowned producer Raymond Gonzales, who has brought out Ms. Mac Donald's considerable talent.
