ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
SING YOUR PRAISE is a unique compilation of ten praise and worship songs, ranging from the reverent "Hosanna" by Peter Scholtes (Holy, Holy, Holy Lord) to the powerful "Blow the Trumpet in Zion" of Craig Terndrup, to the classic "Shout Amen" gospel ballad, and the ever-joyful "Come on, Sing!" rock-a-billy tune--which will be sure to bring a smile to your face! Featuring the anointed trumpet playing of John Devries, along with his gospel song-writer wife Jean Devries on piano --you will not be disappointed with this Worship Band's music collection that contains "something for everyone"! John Devries, a graduate of the jazz program at Humber College, is an experienced big-band musician in the GTA with numerous recordings to his credit (The Stacey Band, Big City Big Band, Jubilance Singers and Orchestra, Lifeline Orchestra). Jean is a graduate of the Faculty of Music in Toronto and current examiner for the Royal Conservatory, and has also produced and recorded on several album projects (Jubilance Singers and Orchestra, Roland Canada Music Piano Disks, Quick Study Psalms CDs). They are both experienced in a wide variety of genres-- as you will soon discover from listening to this collection! The couple has been ministering in music for many years, and have been privileged to work with Canada's own premier jazz musician and producer Bruce Ley on this their first album together. In addition to Bruce's unique guitar stylings, other featured artists on this album include the talented Darren Leck on drums (Narrow Road), Janice Hembree on solo vocals (Quick Study t.v.), and Steve Alexander on acoustic guitar (Canadian songwriter and bluegrass musician). Most importantly, the music is all scripturally based - written and performed to be a blessing to individuals as well as a new song resource for gospel musicians. From the opening shofar call in "Sing Your Praise" which sets the worship tone of the album, to the sounding of glorious trumpet in the upbeat "Give Thanks", to the exuberant percussion solos from Loreto Mazzola in "Your Love is Beautiful", to the heartfelt instrumentals and worshipful vocals of "Love the Lord Your God" and "I Will Sing Praise to God"-- the album concludes with the gentle reflection of "You Show Yourself Faithful"-- a truly beautiful song that testifies to the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. We pray you will indeed be blessed as you join us in "Singing His Praise"!
Listeners are welcome to share any of these songs with their own worship teams--full lyrics are included for all the tracks, and chord charts are available on request.
