ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Shel Zahav (of Gold) is a collection of 10 Messianic songs and 4 recitations performed by Shel Zahav. Shel Zahav, based in Tucson, Arizona consists of lead vocalist/keyboardist, Deonissa (Deonie) Canez-Anderson, drummer/percussionist & recitational speaker, Philip Henry Lauzon, background vocalist, Aida Hawkins-Vindiola, and lead/rhythm guitarist, Michael Paul Anderson.

In the spring of 1967 Israel’s enemies were amassing on her borders. On Israeli radio a song inspired and unified the Israeli people in their time of national crisis. Composed by Naomi Shemer earlier that year, “Yerushala’im Shel Zahav” (Jerusalem of Gold) proved to be prophetic in that it spoke of the reunification of Jerusalem and liberation of the Temple mount. The hope of two thousand years would become a reality in a matter of six days. It is our deep conviction that the Holy One of Israel (blessed be He) was with the Israeli people in this time of great need and that He began to pour out His Spirit on the Jewish people in a very special way.

When Moses was commanded by the LORD to build the Mishkan (the Tabernacle), he was told to do so according to the pattern shown to him on Mount Sinai. There was nothing beautiful about the exterior of the Mishkan, in that it was covered with badger’s skins, but within the most holy place everything was shel zahav (of gold). The prophet Isaiah said that when we would see the Messiah, there is no beauty that we should desire Him, but He would be the righteous one who would justify us and make intercession for us. “All we like sheep have gone astray… but the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). Messiah, the living Mishkan, is shel zahav.

We who were once stained within are so grateful that we have been made shel zahav by His sacrifice of atonement for us. It is our hope and prayer that this project will bless Him, that He might receive all the glory, honor, and praise due His name, for His name is salvation (Yeshua). We pray also that this CD would be a blessing to you, and that if you do not know Him that you may turn to Him and put your faith and trust in Him, that He may also make you shel zahav.

Hope and Refreshment in Song!
Shel Zahav is the worship team at Beth Sar Shalom Congregation in Tucson. I have always enjoyed their music and find myself playing this CD daily. The music is both comforting and inspiring. My favorite songs are Come Let Us Go Up, Baruch Ha Shem Adonai, The Golden City, Days of Elijah and The Name of Yeshua. So many great songs on one CD!
I have purchased several of these CDs as gifts. I highly recommend it!
