Album Notes
Sherill Roberts is principal cellist of the Portland (Oregon) Opera orchestra and cello teacher at Linfield College and George Fox University. She has Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in cello performance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her principal teachers have been Charles Frisbie, Margaret Rowell, Eva Heinitz, Ray Davis, Lowell Creitz, Aldo Parisot, George Neikrug and Gyorgy Sebok.

A California native, she grew up playing in the California Youth Symphony. As an adult she has been a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of New England. International travels have taken her to Europe, where she has performed extensively with the Solistes de Catalunya in Spain, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders and the Antwerp Sinfonia in Belgium.

Sherill is married to Mike Roberts, biology professor at Linfield College, and has two grown daughters, Rosemary Roberts and Amelia Bierly.

She has an active private cello studio, and runs a support group for beginning adult cellists (mostly women) called the YoYo MaMas.

Lyric poetry
I have read that the sound vibrations that come from a cello are closer to those of a human voice than any other. In listening to Sherill's love dance on the cello, I have experienced both smiles and tears of the heartstrings, as if listening to poetry that touches the soul. On a more pragmatic note, my husband played Mello Cello repeatedly last week, saying he could listen to it over and over again. The playing is exquisite, the song choices compliment each other so well, and daughter Amelia plays with her mother feeling the harmonies as if she were one with her mother's musical breath. What a gift.
I am absolutely thrilled to have this CD in my collection, and on my iPod in the "Favorites" playlist. I give it 5 stars.
