Gamers YO!
This is a great companion disc to "Gamers the Movie", but even if you haven't seen the movie (and if you like any form of gaming and have any amount of humor in your body, you NEED to get the movie), you will find something here that you will like. The new versions of "Dragon's Den" and "Chandrashekar" are especially welcome and more polished versions of those heard in the movie, and as with many of the other songs on the disc, go a long way towards demonstrating the musical talent of Kevin Sherwood and Tom Hite.

There are many different styles of music on display here, all with a fun 80's-like theme, and all performed by Sherwood and Hite with a perfect balanced approach that can be best described as "serious tongue in cheek". The rap "D20" would fit comfortably in a comedy music rotation, such as Dr. Demento (and really should be given that opportunity), while the simple guitar on "Run Boy Run" seems almost Bolton-esque - until you listen to the lyrics (although once you hear them, you may feel that the words are ALSO Bolton-esque). "I Love Dick" is still probably the most recognizable from the movie, and is lovingly re-recorded here with a larger range of instruments to make the song stand out. Other new songs "Beelzebub" (an evident tribute to Cher's electro-bleating lamb synth voice on "Life After Love") and "Roleplay" are also strong and worthy additions. My only wish is that more verses had been added to "Dick" and "Chandrashekar", although admittedly the movie versions are understandably short and what we get here on the disc is still funny enough!

Although I have only been aware of Mr. Sherwood through his part and contributions to the movie, this CD really does leave one with the desire to hear other work from Sherwood and Hite. Although funny, irreverent and true to Gamers the Movie, this soundtrack also demonstrates a fearlessness to utilize different styles of music and a wide range of talent on the part of these two musicians. One can easily imagine an acoustic folk album or more pop foray from Sherwood and Hite with equal ease, either comedic or more serious. This album is a great introduction of talent, and hopefully is the first of more work from these two artists.

The DVD, Gamers the Movie, is an independent film and can be purchased at www.buygamers.com. If you like what you hear on the soundtrack, or if you are familiar with roleplaying games of any sort, then this movie simply cannot be recommended enough. Certainly, both of these independent projects deserve support and a wider audience, and one hopes that this soundtrack will help showcase both to new fans.

Funny Soundtrack to a Funny Movie
I played this CD for my older brother in hospital, and it put a smile on his face that we hadn't seen since his last graft surgery. The movie was great, but the songs on here have been remastered and sound really great. Whoever wrote the lyrics to I Love Dick and Chandrashekar is an unsung genius - those two songs along will make milk come out of your nose, guaranteed! If you like different types of 80's style music with lots of funny, funny lyrics, you need to check this CD out. Reese You Suck and D20 are the best!
