ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Chapter 3" was made in Chico, California, by four primary artists who have been gigging together: Shigemi Minetaka (piano), Ethan Swett (bass, & this album's recording engineer), Niobel Cintra Cascaret (vocalist, percussion), and Zach Cowan (drums, percussion). Named Chapter 3, in celebration of the 3rd chapter of Shigemi's life. It was a period of adjustments and reinvention of herself, living in a new country and culture away from home. She felt as if she had to live against "Current", and "Home" found a very special place in her heart. The album has a joyful Afro-Cuban flavor with Niobel Cintra Cascaret's "Canto a Mexico" (cha-cha/salsa), Ethan Swett's upbeat "Ethan Loves You a Lot", featuring Aman Cowell's tasty trumpet solo, and "Groove", a salsa repertoire that Shigemi and Niobel collaborated on. Then there is "El Funk Chopsticks" which was inspired by the chopstick song on a piano and features Greg D'Augelli (tenor sax) and Rocky Winslow (trumpet/Yamaha artist). Hope you will enjoy our music!
