ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"You can practically smell the stale beer, piss and cigarettes rise off of your CD player as Lindsey shifts between wail and deep throated whisper as each of her songs unwinds to its sad conclusion." Doug Heselgrave, NO DEPRESSION

"This is the kind of record we've been hoping for from Lucinda for years. The Pandora's box of hurting she opened up early on in her career and that crystallised with "Car Wheels" runs rampant and unchecked through Lindsey's songs." - Doug Heselgrave, NO DEPRESSION

"If you've been waiting for a singer who puts the hurtin' back in country music, and you've been missing having to ask the bartender to leave a little room at the top of your beer glass for tears to fall into - "Western Violence and Brief Sensuality" might just be the CD you've been waiting for." - Doug Heselgrave, NO DEPRESSION

"This is cowboy existentialism at its finest; today and tomorrow blend into a painful cycle where each day begins with a hangover and accompanying regret that dissipates as the first drink is poured just as the sun pokes over the yardarm." Doug Heselgrave, NO DEPRESSION

"A rural concoction of murder ballads and saloon crooning that's polished and honest."
- Trent Wilkie (Music Journalist, See Magazine, Edmonton AB.)

"The space from the beginning of "Six 6' Skids" to the end of "Figurines of Faith" is now my favourite 13 minutes, 29 seconds ever. Wow. The other 32:30 kicks ass too, just so you know."
- Baron S. Cameron http://loudmouthbear.wordpress.com

"Lindsey's songs delve fathoms deeper than the mere hook and fluff that has garnered so called new country such an unfavorable image. Her grittier numbers are delivered with the candor and power of Lucinda Williams ... one of the biggest mysteries in Canadian music today: Why isn't this woman famous yet?" - R.C. Joseph (Music Journalist, 24 hours, November 2008)

Hailed as "The Whiskey Sipping Darling of the Vancouver Country Scene" Shiloh Lindsey pours her heart out via her own brand of alt-country music. After five years since the release of her stunning alt-country debut, "For My Smoke" (produced by John Macarthur Ellis - Be Good Tanyas, Dustin Bentall), we here at Gilded Gold Records are proud to release her second album "Western Violence and Brief Sensuality" a concept album with songs from murder ballads and tales of the drunken disorderly to songs about cheating lovers. Co-produced by Kirk Adair Douglas, this album proudly features Gaye Delorme (The Rodeo Song, KD Lang) on guitar and the talents of many other local Vancouver musicians such as Angela Fama and Mike Flunkert (Eldorado).
