ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF MY DREAM

It all started on the school steps in 1940 when as an exhuberant seven year old I organized impromptu concerts and dreamed of being a singer. Here, seventy years later, the dream has come to fruition. In between, there were many adventures. The making of this album is one of the big ones.

[In 2007, when I was a fledgling singer, I met Rene Worst. He suggested I might enjoy Swing Camp, an annual week of swing immersion where he was the leader of Band Lab. I went and there discovered the joy of singing with a band every day for 5 days. I came home from that week hooked on performing and free of my fear of mikes and audiences. At a time in 2010, when I was wondering where I might yet go with my singing, Rene found his kindergarten report card from 1959. It was signed by me ! Of course we had to get together to study this amazing document from our past and talk of dreams of collaborating in the future. Now here we are, come full circle, 51 years later, roles reversed.]

I am standing in the middle of my dream, surrounded by generous musicians who have encouraged, inspired and believed in me. I've come full circle with the dream I've carried with me for seven decades.

Finding my voice and this music community has been like inviting the exhuberant seven year old out to play.
