ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Shmau" alias Andrea Pfeifer practiced singing in her own four walls since her time as a teenager. She recorded herself on tape, continued practicing and soon started to write her own songs. From time to time she could be convincend to sing before some friends and everybody easily saw that she had developed to a ingenious singer. Not least because everybody asked for a CD of her, she finaly decided to go to a studio to record her best 11 songs of the past 6 years for eternity.

The album has been recorded in a high end studio with the target to sound as unflattered as if andrea would sit in a room together with the listener. there were almost no cuts made and unperfection was accepted in favour of authenticy.

She sings and accompanys herself with the guitar. That's all and it's far enough. Andrea shows herself uninhibited with all her weaknesses, flaws but also all her strength and beauty. Her ingenious lyrics in english and swissgerman tell of deep wisdoms of life, of love, of freedom, of being human, of temptation, of pain and give a lot of material to think about. It's almost unbelievable which power Shmau unfolds single handedly, how deep her music touches, moderate, simple but still overwhelmingly beautiful.

Andrea Pfeifer is part of the band "Sylesenz" and her future efforts are with this project.
