Album Notes
Café Cirque by Shoehorn, recorded and released in 2008, has been remastered with an updated track sequence and an new spoken intro to "Wet Foot Blues".
This album is a sophisticated cabaret circus soundtrack with echoes of Hollywood and Broadway and the postwar jazz mecca that once was part of Yokohama.
Noir, Tango, Rhumba, swinging "rhythm changes", and a freshly innocent jazz waltz (penned by the leader's young daughter at age 12) coexist with the exotic textures of the electric tap dance instrument and bass clarinet and a rap vocal explanation of Gershwin's muse. All these elements hold together in this mature statement by Michael "MC Shoehorn" Conley
Recorded to analog tape by Billy Oskay at Big Red Studio in Oregon.
