The Vale of Paradise

by Shotgun Elvis

An explosive, three-piece power trio. Their catchy lyrics of self-destruction, romance-gone-bad, lust, temptation, hard-luck and the struggle for maturity mix well with the energetic, explosive and catchy grooves of the music.

Album Notes
Shotgun Elvis is loaded with attitude, armed with great songs and prone to incite a good deal of slam-dancing and pogo-ing wherever the group performs.

Shotgun Elvis proudly carries on the tradition of punk's previous generational forbearers like The Clash, Rancid and Social Distortion.

While those bands admirably carried the punk rock torch from the late-1970s through the early 1990s, the latest "Hot Topic" generation of bands like Good Charlotte have opted to sugar-coat it with trendy pop-flavorings and focus more on fashion than musical substance.

Fortunately for the genre, bands like Shotgun Elvis are ensuring that true punk will survive the invasion of prefabricated poseurs.

This powerful trio -- guitarist/vocalist Fro Leetz, bassist Sammy Carlson and drummer Bobby Shaw -- bust out songs fueled by pounding three-chord sonic assaults and rife with catchy lyrics about temptations, bad romances and other shady aspects of life gone awry.

The current Shotgun Elvis live show is carried out with wild abandon and unstoppable energy. The set list includes most of the selections featured on its outstanding debut CD, "Somewhere In Chicago," along with several of the newer tunes earmarked for the band's sophomore album, "Vale Of Paradise."

Shotgun Elvis, The Power Punk trio have another fine effort in “The Vale of Paradise”. From the opening track “Signed in Blood”, I’m feeling it; it’s not boring I assure you. “Beware the darkness and the mystery it brings” I can so relate to the lyrics. “To The Grave” a real transcending, when punk was punk. I could break down all the songs I like, there are several. The fun “Loose Women & Booze”, to “Circle of Friends”, you could easily find in the rotation of Q101. It shows how tough this business is, so much good music gets overlooked.

Shotgun Elvis seem to be an authentic old school punk band, with just the right flavor of Pop Punk that is happening today. Not to over polished or manufactured, I like that, it stays real.

Authentic Rock 100%!!!
Yeah, another step in the career of this band. If their first record was incredible, this new album is definitively another lesson of authentic rock to move your feet and enjoy all night. The best solution against the boredom!!!

Local top 3 of 2007
Outstanding, full-color, full-bleed, tri-fold eco-packaging modeled after a 1940s pulp fiction crime novel immediately grabs attention and reflects the great care and cost Shotgun Elvis put into the making of its stellar 13-song sophomore CD.

This powerhouse punk trio is old-school-rooted but contemporary, never coming off as dated. Shotgun Elvis is the bastard child of The Clash and Bad Brains brought kicking and screaming into the 21st century -- light years better than most so-called "punks" on the national scene today.

Wear your Converse high-tops when you spin this disc, because from start to finish (including bonus live tracks), this is adrenaline-packed fun that makes it impossible to stay still. Solid production by Marc Nelson at Bear Tracks Studio.
