Album Notes
\"You can hardly keep from dancing when you hear them, let alone stop your feet from tappin\'. Impossible! \"
Bob Everhart
(National Traditional Country Music Association)

“I love their sound. I think they strike a perfect balance between the energy and drive required to give this music momentum and a musicality enough to keep the most discerning ears satisfied; just enough salt, just enough sugar.”
Mark Bilyeu
(of Big Smith, printed in The Ozark Mountaineer)

Shout Lulu String Band is Paul & Skye McGowen, along with Pete Howard. Whether playing on the street, at a festival, or in a venue, they throw a party and invite everyone to join them. The Old Time music they love and play puts the audience first, providing danceable rhythms and high energy music. Performances feature flatfoot dancing, rhythm bones, jaw harp, fretless banjo, fiddle, ukulele, a catawampus 3 stringed cello, and “quite lovely harmonies.”

They record their albums \"live\" with two ribbon microphones, placing the musicians strategically around the room to obtain the desired balance between the instruments, thus obtaining a nice, warm, organic sound. Now that\'s Old Time!

Ridin\' a Buggy: Great Album
Great album. I\'ve been enjoying every minute of it since I got it a week ago. I\'ve recommended it to a few friends already. I can\'t say enough good things about this record; the band, the song choices, the audio dynamics--Awesome!!!

Moonlight on an Ozark Stream...
The last light of day has faded from the sky. The Ozark stream is running clear and cold. And along and through the valley comes the sound of fiddle and banjo. As if from a time gone by the fine melodies harken. Tap your feet, swing round, enjoy.

Real old-time spirit.
If you like to hear old-time with spirit, this is it. Some modern artists performances of old-time music sounds more like a lesson in a college course nowdays, but Shout Lulu gets the old-time "spirit" going. Sounds like they play the music for the music, not for some educational preservation. Fine musicians and good old-time singing. Get this & get right!!
