ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD takes you on a journey from the castles of Wales to the rustic barns of New England; from daringly raw to richly expressive; from sublime to boisterous; and from heartbreaking to downright funny. This is a truly unique Welsh-Americana exchange between one of Wales' best known fiddlers, Siân Phillips, and three of Vermont’s prominent folk musicians, Iain MacHarg (Pipes, Whistles, Bodhran), Sarah Hotchkiss (Fiddle, Viola, Banjo) and John Mowad (Guitar, Fiddle, Vocals) that took place on several stages during Sian’s tour in the fall of 2014. New England’s foliage at the height of cider making season set the background for the live performances captured here. Siân’s distinctive sound and beautifully expressive phrasing calls to the listener to put aside whatever they are doing at the moment to just listen. Sarah and Sian’s use of baroque bows adds to the sweetness and eeriness of some of the tracks, and the rapport between these four outstanding musicians comes through in a rare and entertaining sixty five minute performance to travel through time with. Enjoy!
