Album Notes

Here is our new c.d.

Give it a listen.

I know the market is glutted with "product" but ours is really special.

At least we like to think so.

Perhaps you will too.

We don't have a recording contract.

Nor do we have a manager or an agent.

We just like to play music, mostly in the basement, but sometimes in a club or café, and sometimes for a theater production.

We have been doing this a long time. We are getting old now. Some of us have children.

Our music is in a lot of different genres-this makes it fun to play and listen to, but difficult to market and sell.

Perhaps you would like to buy it, or write a little something about it, or play it on your radio station. That would be great.

Thanks for your time,

David Russell and the Sideshow

Press about David Russell's songwriting:

"David Russell has created a delightful score with all the right hooks and truly creative lyrics."
--See Magazine, Edmonton

"startlingly versatile composer/singer/guitarist/actor. Russell's tunes demonstrate the styles and temperaments of bygone songsters Harry Nilsson, Kurt Weill, and Bertold Brecht live on."
--Seattle Post Intelligencer

"Great music by David Russell (who is sure to have a record contract soon)
--Vue Weekly, Edmonton

"The music is striking and lovely. A blend of Kurt Weill and more modern artists such as David Bowie."
--Seattle Post Intelligencer

Influenced by: Waits, Weill, Nilsson, mid Beatles, Raymond Scott, XTC, Nina Rota, early Bowie, 30's swing and torch, Kinks, Costello, Porter, etc.

File with: Rufus Wainwright, The Decembrists, Beulah, Fruit Bats, Starlight Mints, Elliot Smith, the Shins, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc.

Amazing, Wow... this is a poignant collection of recordings.
Oh my... wow. I was browsing the "New Arrivals" here at the site when I THANKFULLY decided to listen to the previews from this CD. As of this writing that is all I've been able to do, but I'm buying the cd.

The wisdom, experience, and innocense in the lyrics are very rarely found in anything I hear anymore. This is simply amazing, great writing.

Couple that with INCREDIBLE musicianship... just incredible sound... and great production too??

Technically, artistically, and imaginatively this cd is just beautiful. I would love to see David Russell and the Sideshow play this live. This music really moves me. I was almost in tears listening to Lunabird (Track 7). Carol Anne is also very good and a great track to revisit at the end of the cd.

Just give this CD a listen. It will convince you of its greatness on its own.
