ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The venerable soul icon, Joe Simon, who ruled the R & B charts back in the 60’s and 70’s, returns to his gospel roots with the intensely inspiring, “THIS STORY MUST BE TOLD”. Joe, who now is an ordained minister, renewed his recording career in 1998 with this eleven song tour-de-force, an effort that ultimately climbed to the top 20 of The Billboard gospel charts. Simon composed six of the tracks himself (including the title track), but shows he’s equally at home with the works of other writers by delivering a sparkling version of the Oak Ridge Boys’ 1973 Grammy winning hit “He’s Gonna Smile On Me”, and a gritty rendition of the public domain staple, “Lay My Burden Down”. Joe’s rousing version of “Amazing Grace”, takes the tune to never before covered territory, and he wraps up the package with a truly incredible uptempo medley, that blends four of the beloved Soul Stirrers’ classics into one solid and seemless groove, all backed by one awesome powerhouse mass choir. Can I get a witness!!
