Album Notes
'Sixty Minutes' for solo piano, was composed in 2001. It was written to continue a series of pieces dealing with fundamental aspects of music, in this case time. The notes count out the seconds (3600), and the minutes are marked by a loud bass note. Music is a time based medium, but seldom is the time factor made obvious and explicit. The other idea behind the piece was the fact that specific time periods could be performed. If twenty minutes was required then the piece could stop after the chosen period, (a help when planning concerts). Unusually for me the piece is chromatic, so though one may know exactly where one is in relation to time, in terms of harmony there is doubt.
