ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sing, Baby, Sing! started developing tools for singers in 2003 with their "Blue Ribbon Warmups" CD, followed by "Building Vocal Skills," "Vocal Rx A First Aid Kit for the Voice," and "The Maturing Voice." Their next project was the Book, "Sing, Baby, Sing! A Springboard to Artistry", which was organized into three sections: 12 Weeks to Vocal Artistry, a weekly plan for individual or personal vocal work; Exercises to Address Vocal Challenges, allowing teachers/conductors to tailor warm-ups to problems their singers are encountering; and a complete index encompassing all the written exercises for the first four CDs.

Two more single vocal development CDs, "Classically Inclined," and "Ensemble Vocal Skills" followed. "Classically Inclined" takes the main motifs for well-known classical music and makes them into vocal exercises, allowing the singer to learn them a cappella, sing them in different keys, then sing them along with an orchestra. "Ensemble Vocal Skills" includes personal exercises for singers to use for warm-up prior to attending a rehearsal and then multi-part exercises for the ensemble to use for tuning, blending, etc.

Darlene Rogers, Dale Syverson and Peggy Gram are the three collaborators behind the Sing, Baby, Sing! products. Here's a brief background on each of them:

Darlene Rogers is a music educator with a special love for a Cappella four-part harmony. She received her Bachelors in Music Education from Oklahoma State University and her Master of Music Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has continued her vocal pedagogy education through numerous workshops and seminars, always staying on top of the latest vocal techniques.

"I love to teach and I love women’s barbershop," she freely admits. Singers from around the world love her and her easy, friendly approach to both the mechanics and the artistry of singing and creating harmonies.

She is equally at home with the most accomplished and the beginning singer, always recognizing the potential in everyone and unveiling the path for success to the singer. Darlene works with individual singers, quartets, small choruses and even the very largest of choruses, believing that all can improve their vocal skills. "I love to help people do what they love, and do it better," she shares. "All can improve their vocal skills and that’s what I am all about."

Darlene is a very active member of the International Faculty, always in demand to conduct seminars and workshops around the globe. She has sung in many quartets and coached many quartets at the regional and international levels, both winners and seekers, including international champions Rumors and Zing!

Dale Syverson is an accomplished singer and self-described lifelong learner. Her keen ear and wild sense of humor combine for excellent communication skills, constantly creating new vocal analogies that stick with singers and both explain and reinforce skills.

Dale's conducting skills are legendary, with the uncanny ability to convey a volume of meaning with the slightest movement, eliciting an amazingly artistic response from singers worldwide.

Dale is a certified judge for Sweet Adelines International in two judging categories and a member of their international faculty. She also served as a judge in the World Choir Games in 2012. She has won the international quartet championship twice, and coached many winners of both the international quartet and chorus championships In short, in the world of barbershop harmony, she is a true superstar.

A chorus director since the age of 17, she has been director of the 5-time international gold medal Rich-Tone Chorus since 1976, during which time the chorus has grown from 18 members to over 150. She is the daughter of a barbershopper, and has been a part of the Sweet Adelines organization since she was a child.

In honor of her many achievements and contributions, Syverson was presented the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor awarded by the International organization.

Peggy Gram is a 50+ year member of Sweet Adelines, having joined the organization in her teens because of her mother's association with the group. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Science in Education. "Teaching and educating are my favorite skills," she explains. "I educated myself to be a school teacher, but didn't wind up using that preparation in my workday world. Rather, it channeled into teaching adult learners through chorus rehearsals, coaching performance groups, and seminar classes."

Within the world of Sweet Adelines Peggy has worn a variety of hats, having served as the International President from 2008-2010 and International Treasurer from 2012-2014. She is a certified judge in the showmanship category and has been the showmanship judge specialist. She is a member of the international faculty and teaches seminars around the world on all aspects of barbershop harmony, singing, and performance, as well as classes built around leadership and management. She continues to serve on the international board of directors. She received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.

She has won the international quartet competition and is a Master Director, having been the musical director for the Top of the Rock chorus in Little Rock, Arkansas for 42 years, winning the Harmony Achievement Award as the highest scoring "small chorus" in the international competition.

She coaches all sizes of groups, from individual singers to quartets to large and small choruses. She has coached three international champion choruses, the 5-time winners, Rich Tones Chorus, from Dallas, Texas, 5-time winners, North Metro Chorus from Toronto, Canada, and the highest scoring winners thus far, Ronninge Show Chorus, from Ronninge, Sweden.
