Album Notes
Sirens' Song was established in 1996 in the huge town of Abilene Texas. For those of you geographically challenged that's in the dead center in the state. The group met when the members worked with one another on theatrical productions, and we have been going strong even after the productions were over.

As an acoustic group-we play more than 20 instruments specializing in guitar, mandolin and viola. With folk lyrics, and pop rhythms, we prefer to sing songs that are poetic, and mostly refer to nature and the sea. You may have heard Sirens Song on,, the Prairie Ceilidh show on CKJS 810 A.M. (Manitoba Canada), the Local Yokels radio show and Sirens' Song also released "Starlight and Shadow" in May 2004, offering the same signature harmonies with new all-original music .
Sirens' Song partnered with "Last Chance Forever Bird Conservancy" to write a song in tribute of falcons and falconry. With this partnership, the band received a national grant to help fund the new cd, with a portion of the profit proceeds benefiting a conservancy that helps rehabilitate injured birds of prey.
We were reviewed by the professional internet music magazine, The Muse's Muse, whose comments you can find below.

We write all our own songs, we play all our own instruments, we write our own instrumental and vocal arrangements, and we are an all-girl band. Here's some info about us as individuals and how we work in the group.

Rikie Floyd, born Richondra D'ray...but no one can pronounce that, so her friends call her Rikie. Rikie has long blonde hair and killer looks. She is really the marilyn monroe of folk music! Don't be fooled by Rikie's looks, she is smart as a whip and extremely organized. If she sets out to do something, it gets done. Rikie keeps us on track and makes us really WORK in rehearsals. Rikie is married to Bob, and is a stay home mom to Ainsley, her daughter that is currently toddling everywhere. Rikie also plays several instruments, including flute, guitar and mandolin, and is great at arranging music. She is the one up in the stratosphere...a strong high soprano that is great with harmonies and weaving parts. She has taught acting and improv for a performing company and was on cast at a major Renaissance Faire in Texas.

Hilary Walton...the youngest member. Petite features, beautiful face, hip dresser. Hilary is a full time professor so she is our brains. Hilary writes great music and plays viola and guitar. Hilary began the group when she was in college, and has continued to hone her talent as she gets older. She sings a third above or a third below the melody line, but is really an alto/mezzo soprano. Hilary explains things when they get too complicated for the rest of us. She likes things precise and perfect. She is an incredible singer, and can hear harmonies very well.

Next is Marla Touchstone. Beautiful face and an even more beautiful heart. To know Marla is to love Marla. She is our wise and patient member who stabilizes the group. She rarely moves quickly, but likes to take time to enjoy the things around her. Marla has a great ear for arranging, and can create instrument parts as well as vocal parts. She plays many instruments, but prefers singing over playing. Marla is an encourager, and NEVER has anything bad to say about anyone. She loves beautiful things and LOVES singing with us, for which we are all glad. Marla is our bass and keeps us grounded in more ways than one. Marla is married to Stephan, and has two children, Alexandra age 11, and Jessica age 6.

Last is LeighAnn Heil. LeighAnn is the dark-haired tall girl who writes most of the music. She has over 40 songs written in the last 2 years, most of which are performed by Sirens' Song. She is a clown who prefers to joke around at rehearsals, necessitating Rikie or Hilary to bring her back in line. LeighAnn has performed so many places that she cannot name them all, and her radio jingles have played for years in several markets. She sings lead and plays guitar (LeighAnn prefers Takamine) mandolin and piano. LeighAnn has literally sung all over the world, including; the USA, Rome, Florence, Geneva, Austria, Germany, Capri, and a run at the world's fair in Seville, Spain. LeighAnn will represent the city of Abilene at the Mrs. Texas USA pageant in April. LeighAnn spent several years in professional theatre, and currently teaches guitar and voice. She has a husband, Robert, and a son, Ryan, age 8. (but is totally married to her music!)

To quote...
Michael Henry Martin, Castle sound studios...

"Wow, you guys are like Joni Mitchell on steroids"

And that pretty much sums us up. Enjoy the CD..

Daughter of Ocean is a sonic gem with great flow and lush harmonies. Mostly slightly modernized traditional and Celtic music, Daughter of Ocean is a seamless listen from beginning to end.

Delightful harmonies, polished song writing
These four voices were born to blend. Truly beautiful harmonies. The songs are polished and inventive, and range from soulful beauty to whimsical fun. I would love to hear these pieces with just a little more complex instrumental accompanyment, but it is still a lovely CD and worth keeping at the top of your pile of "quick grabs".

I really, really like this CD! Very nice, smooth, rolling music. Wonderful songs and lovely voices! I want more CDs from this group!!

Beautiful music. No way can you be without.
I've heard the songs on this CD and regularly hear them on They are right...'Lush' and 'Pure' describes the feeling. The arrangments are beauitfully done--the voices are wonderful. The songs are mostly of nature and sea--and they hit it right on the nose. No matter what the song on this CD, you are pulled in and can't help but love it and sing along. Their tones are must listen to understand.

Very Nice
Great vocals nicely supported by uncluttered instrumental arrangements. I've purchased copies for friends.

With harmonies to melt
Who knew that four women could sound so beautiful? I first heard Siren's Song on Celtic rock radio ( and fell in love with the music. I finally have the CD and it is incredible from the beginning to the end you will melt to the harmonies these woman produce. With a great variety of songs you won't want to take it out of your CD player.

Gorgeous songs with perfect harmonies from Faery indeed
This is truly a wonderful cd that you can play over and over. My favorite songs would be the first and fourth cut though they are all worthy of high praise. Truly music to listen to for those enamored of the Otherworldly Realms. peace to all...

Wow! What harmony! Original music that is incredibly well done!
Have owned this CD since it first came out and it is my favorite for listening to in my car. Calming, easy to sing along with it, and keeps my speed down.....makes you long for the sea!! Versatile voices, those mermaidens.
