ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jim Skewes received his Bachelor of Music Degree in the Spring of 1979 at Cornish College of the Arts. At that time he began teaching, both privately and in classes at community centers and the University of Washington. He has since continued his own studies with George Sakellariou, Jose Tomas, and Pepe Romero.

He then began entertaining diners and lounge patrons at various Seattle venues, which led to a steady engagement at the Seattle Alexis Hotel. He still kept busy teaching and playing for weddings, fashion shows, dinners, receptions, and parties. He also played and sang locally in a lounge combo.

In 1985, Jim and his family moved to Portland to play for diners at the Alexis Hotel there, now the RiverPlace Hotel. Since then, Jim has played throughout the Northwest, including studio and session work, local cruises, winemaker’s dinners, and many more weddings and receptions. He has provided just the right moods for many occasions in hotels, conference centers, restaurants, and private homes and clubs throughout the Northwest:

• Alexis Hotel
• Four Seasons Hotel
• RiverPlace Hotel
• Hilton Hotel
• Sheraton Hotel
• Vintage Plaza
• Washington Athletic Club
• Multnomah Athletic Club

Even in large spaces, a wireless transmitter enables the sounds of Jim’s guitar to reach all corners of even the oddest shaped rooms.

Formal weddings are Jim’s specialty; and he can provide the processional, the recessional, and dinner music afterward, as well as play or sing a special song at just the right moment.

He just never got around to recording any of his music until now. So this collection of favorite requests is the first of many recording projects to come.

Will Play For Food—recorded June, 2003 at No Script Studios, Lynnwood, Washington.
Soft Guitar Music-Recorded 2004–05 in Lynnwood, WA, and Independence, OR.
