Album Notes
At 3 years old, I was banging on pots and pans in my grandmothers kitchen. She bought me my first drum kit at 4 and I have been playing ever since. I started out playing gospel music. During my early teenage years, I was drawn to all types of music, R&B, funk, and rock. My favorites were the Ohio Players, Cameo, Rush, Elvis Presley and my mom’s 45s that were mostly Stax and Motown. I wanted to make a record that was a reflection of the music and experiences that have influenced me throughout my life, a record that was an eclectic mix of rhythms and genres of music that I love, something raw and organic.

Finding ways to creatively bring different genres of music together into one record and make it cohesive has been a fantastic challenge. Each song tells a little story, “a vignette”, reflecting music and moments in time that have greatly influenced my life. The title of my record is “Vignettes”. There are rock, hip hop and soul tracks on the record. In some cases, those genres are fused into one song. There is a house track on the record and even two Zydeco songs, yes, I said Zydeco. I fell in love with the “new school” Zydeco which is a blend of hip hop and R&B over a classic zydeco beat.

This record has been a true labor of love and I’m excited to bring it to you.
