ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
If ya looking for songs about pickup trucks, raising your beer glass & Syrupy love songs . . . you are not going to find much of this subject matter on our 2nd release "JACKPOT". There is much more in life to be pondered and our aim is to address subjects like domestic violence, usury, dead beats, woman who bury their husbands in the garden, musicians who are slaves to their craft and why has dooms day come and gone again and yet I am writing these notes.

I can tell you . . . expect a Rock & Roll album. One that's gonna make you want to dance, grin and maybe shed a tear. You may find this album much more focused than our self titled debut album "Sim Chance & The Gamblers". We have found our game and all bets are on.

Just so there's no confusion; "JACKPOT" is a rock n' roll album.

1.   Good Thing In A Bad Way - A song about a woman of contradictions. She's the best and the worst thing that can happen to you.

2.   Don't Poison The Water - If you're losing your home and you need help desperately, be sure the rope you're thrown isn't fitted for your neck.

3.   My Better Half (The Valentine Song) - Let's face the facts fellas - She's got ya beat by a mile.

4.   What Kinda Man - (Hot Chic tune) Written for the indie film "Who's Jenna" to be released summer 2016.

5.   Fast Lane To Hell - A lifetime of watching construction jobs rushed headlong off a cliff, to make deadlines to reach the gates of hell.

6.   Run Chicken Run - A deadbeat husband trying to run away from what he can't handle -- Mainly, himself.

7.   Paradise In Texas - An abused woman takes desperate and irreversible measures to escape her tormentor, and seeks refuge by returning home.

8.   Betty Louz Bluez - This lovely lady kills her annoying husband and buries him in the garden.  Good fertilizer makes for nice tomatoes.

9.   We Ain't Here For The Money - We are--But we ain't. We have bills to pay. But as musicians, money is not our incentive or driver. If it is…Better quit now.

10. Wonderful Day To Be Alive - Dec. 21ST 2012 has come and gone,  And we're still here.  Good thing I didn't rob that bank on the 19TH...

In case you don't know who the members of Slim Chance & The Gamblers are, allow me to introduce the band... Mario (Slim) Casella vocals, guitar, Eric Greene, guitar & slide guitars, vocals. Jimmy Grant, bass, vocals, Rockin' Randy Ledet, keyboards, vocals, Steven Murphy, drums: Gary Oleyar violin, vocals, Johnny G. Reo , all percussion, J.P Patrick backing vocals, Marc Muller, pedal steel, Rick Brunermer, saxophones, Sandy Mack, harp and Steve Jankowski trumpets.

Together I believe we've made a very good record. I sincerely hope you'll agree. This new album "Jackpot" was recorded at Sinoma Recording Studio in Clark N.J. and engineered, co produced and mixed by Gary Oleyar. ( Loggins & Messina, ) Horn arrangements were arranged by Steve Jankowski ( Nile Rogers, Blood Sweat & Tears, Chicago) at Jankland studios in Belmar, N.J.

Great Variety
Slim Chance and the Gamblers once again gave their fans, new and old a satisfying variety of rock and roll infused with blues, soul, funk and a little county. Slim's vocals show real emotion with excellent supporting harmonies that please the ear. The band is tight with great lead guitars supported by a generous bass, enticing keyboards, persuasive percussion and demonstrative horns, sax and fiddle when appropriate. The album is exceptionally arranged and a pleasure to listen. Everyone will find a favorite on this album with "Better Half" a Valentine tribute for sure and "Wonderful Day to Be Alive" a feel good song when it looks like things are a mess.
