ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Who is Frank E. Slingsby?

You have a choice. Either you can choose to believe he’s the late, veteran nearly man of the English blues boom/brit invasion whose career spanned nearly thirty years, or…

Following years playing in bands (with members of electro-clash sensations Molloy and British AOR outfit Dante Fox, amongst others) Jon Paul Allen finally decided to hang up his guitar for good.

But it just wouldn’t leave him alone. “Introducing The Fantastic Sounds Of…The Slingsby Hornets” started off as a way of learning to use modern technology, by recording cover versions of songs from the 70’s and 80’s that had first inspired him to pick up the guitar almost twenty-five years ago.

The recording process suddenly sparked new songs and ideas influenced by the artists who made the songs that soundtracked growing up during an era where the single was king.

So "fans of Glam, The Beatles, Cheap Trick, Queen (Brian May in particular), Badfinger, The Move, Squeeze, and classic power pop in general get ready to have a smile put on your face...Lots of fun from start to finish!...EXCELLENT!!!"

"oozes cool and talent...neat pop-psyche...sounds like an updated version of The Sweet...a bit of Jellyfish meets Dream Syndicate...almost sounds like The Pillbugs...the guitar work here (very similar to Queen's Brian May) is a joy to listen to throughout...You'll have lots of fun with this release."

"One of the more fun and unique releases of the year...Slots in somewhere between Jellyfish and Teenage Fanclub...a bit of a T-Rex thing going for it...pretty, psych-pastoral...reminds me a bit of Cotton Mather"
