ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album grew out of a botched commission! A Los-Angeles based Ballet company couldn't follow through, so I decided to. I wrote most of the score in California's gorgeous Yosemite park in early June 2006. The album was finished by the following April. Musically, it is a personal homage, meaning that I wrote this music in my own style in dedication to a cultural center and the city that houses it.
I love New Orleans more than anybody could who never has or ever will live there. Something meaningful happens to me whenever I'm there.
This drama in jazz for live 8-piece jazz band and dance company centers us around three people and their friends who live and breathe the Crescent City as contemporary young musicians and artists. Centering us around their own personal dramas at first, they and we are startled and same victims of a hurricane. A small group finds love and meaning and somehow manages to survive one of God's most terrorizing acts in New Orleans, 2005. Socially, the work includes all the peoples of New Orleans. It is a story of tragedy and survival.
