ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Some of the most beautiful music ever composed for the Christmas season, the Alfred Burt Carols hold a special place in the hearts of choral music lovers. Kathy Steadman and Steve Meredith add their own unique twist to this music by performing it as a “multitrack” choir; using two singers to create a chorus of up to 40 voices. Beautiful choral music celebrating the Season – Christmas Cometh Caroling!

-About Steve Meredith and Kathy Steadman-
Kathy Steadman and Steve Meredith have worked together on numerous projects for the past 14 years. They have provided music, video and other production services for a wide variety of clients, both public and private. As busy as their separate lives and production activities keep them, they find themselves always returning to their roots as singers. The music on this CD represents a compilation of tracks recorded over a space of more than 10 years. In spite of the inevitable life changes that a decade brings (relocation, job changes, grandchildren, etc.) the goal of finishing the Alfred Burt Carols project continued to be a priority for Steve and Kathy. They hope this music brings joy to your holiday season and they wish you a very Merry Christmas.

-About the Alfred Burt Carols-
These delightful carols are the result of a tradition begun by the Reverend Bates G. Burt, his composer/trumpeter son, Alfred, and church organist, Wihla Hutson. The 15 songs were originally written to accompany the Burt family Christmas cards, and it was only after Alfred’s premature death at the age of 33 that the general public became aware of these holiday gems.

Alfred’s training and vocation as a trumpet player with the Alvino Ray Orchestra gives his vocal music a unique, jazz-influenced style that keeps the music fresh, even 50+ years after it was written. For this reason, the Alfred Burt Carols continue to be a favorite part of the Christmas repertoire for choirs and carolers around the world.
