ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
GREATEST HITS VOL.2

This album "GREATEST HITS VOL.2" is an exciting mix of progressive rock n roll..."TEXAS" style. The songs on this CD are from his previously released 4 cd's: "Into the Madness" " Keep It Real"
"Windows" and "Texas Pride" all on Bi-Polar Records. From beginning to end this album takes you thru the dark and moody to the powerful and dynamic, all combined to result in a melodic journey of the musical senses.
There's a distinctive feel of no fooling 'round on this album. Smokin' Joe shoots straight from the hip, and never missing, lands right on the "bulls-eye" of a well grounded sonic stage. From start to finish, this album whips out track after track of convincing and committed guitar playing and song writing abilities.
A true Texas Guitar Legend, Smokin Joe plays in the grand tradition of Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Frank Marino and Joe Satriani. His CD's are a testament to his ability and mastery over his 20 year old ARIA PRO II Guitar. Smokin' Joe plays all the instruments on his solo albums #1,2,3,4,5
CD#1: "INTO THE MADNESS" 2000
CD#2: "KEEP IT REAL" 2001

The most prolific record producers of the Houston area...
Joe has been one of the most prolific record producers of the Houston area over the last few years, and I think this is his seventh CD of his I have reviewed. As a big fan of guitar gunslingers, Joe always hit the right chord with me.
His axe-grinding takes me back to the 60's and 70's with a hint of the mind-altering music of that era. Most albums had a mix of instrumentals and vocal cuts, but here he has compiled thirteen of his favorite instrumental cuts for an hour of guitar music that will be heaven to fans of serious guitar playing. Like previous albums,Keep It Real, Texas Pride, Windows, and Into The Madness, there is a variety of slow and fast cuts, but it's really all about the Guitar. Joe cranks it up when it calls for it and can mellow out as well. If you hav'nt heard his music before, do yourself a favor and call 1-800-BUYMYCD for this compilation of his best instrumentals. You won't be sorry, and it will take you on a nostalgic journey to the concert jams of the 60's and 70's like never before.
