Album Notes
Smooth Money Mike's Solo Debut. An experienced Smooth Jazz/Latin/Fusion player, Smooth Money Mike previously co-wrote and played lead on The internationally well recieved and acclaimed "Havana Fantasy" album by Chillaxin (

Smooth Money Mike's Solo debut brings all his sweet, tasteful and nimble fingered lead work and brilliant diverse compositional skills that are impressing the World. Fans of Carlos Santana, George Benson, Pink Floyd, and other great guitarists will love this. NEW OLD SCHOOL GUITAR CLASSICS is just that!!!! Smooth Money Mike blends electric and classical guitar, his own tasteful and technical lead and rhythm guitar style, with singing Latin electric solos and blistering Spanish nylon string guitar to create an intriguing and captivating mix!!!! This makes NEW OLD SCHOOL GUITAR CLASSICS a must have for fans of great guitar and energizing and relaxing guitar music.

"Ballpark" kicks the energy back up. This Smooth Jazz song has nice octave themes, then Smooth Money is Unleashed for a great clean Jazz solo with tasty licks throughout and nice dexterity and phrasing. A Latin key change bridge leads to another key change solo, very reminiscent of Pink Floyd.

"Bella Latina" is a very Latin track. Imagine Santana after taking some picking lessons from Al DiMeola. Some great harmony leads also recall Eagles "Hotel California." The rideout at the end is energetic to get you pumped up, and a great guitar workout mix of Latin and blues licks.

"You'll Love Me Again" is an extremely sexy, romantic, yet energetic opening song. Tasteful George Benson Octaves over a beautiful chord progression lead to a chorus that makes the listener nostalgic. Tasty licks throughout, and a couple very fast and accurate runs punctuate. A very cool key change funk fusion solo with deep bass and horns. Closes out in classy fasion, opening the album in style!!!!

"Surf Safari" is a tribute to Pipeline, Dick Dale, and the other surf masters of the sixties. Smooth Money Mike does a spot on impression with all the twang and reverb you would want, plus some of his unparalleled dexterity. A fun ride.

"Little Italy" is all nylon string. A slow romantic and poignant piece that should be a movie sound track!!!! The tremolo picked choruses and tasteful Spanish verses set the listener up for an unforgettable Egyptian sounding solo that segues seamlessly back to the Italian theme, and it keeps getting sweeter all the way.

"Fresh Squeeze" is Sexy Sexy Sexy, with a cool happy intro. The verse has an extremely catchy hook, doubled by a slightly distorted lead guitar and a vocal scat. Chorus has just beautiful melody and arpeggiated chords. Smooth Money Mike works some Spanish Nylon Guitar in the mix with the electric for a sweet breathtaking solo that takes you on a ride.

"Calypso in Rio" was written to sound like a duet between two of Smooth Money Mike's guitar heroes: Carlos Santana and Al DiMeola. This is exactly how it sounds. Slightly panned dueling guitars alternate between a very clean sounding guitar with palm muting and speed picking that is very tight and accurate with a saturated, sweet singing and sustaining Santana guitar sound. When they play in unison is a real highlight that brings back rock from the early 70's!!!!

"Reflection" is laid back, the epitome of NEW OLD SCHOOL GUITAR CLASSICS. Sweet laid back octaves take this song through an engaging and introspective question and answer trip. A tasteful key change to minor rhythm and blues gives the song great direction, back to the theme after a big key change, and an extremely classy, relaxing end.

"Spanish Romance" is a 16th Century Classical Piece that has been covered by many guitar masters. Hear how Smooth Money Mike uses his unique flair and a great nylon string tone in making this classic sound incredible and fresh, with his unique signature stamp.

"Senorita" This song could easily be thought of as having Carlos Santana leads and composition. The verses alternate phrases with sweet nylon and electric guitar. Very catchy with a solo that will have you rewinding so you can hear it again, the feel is so sweet.
