ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Something fishy. From the short chuckling burst of “Skylanders” to the steady meditation of “Felix Found A Tire,” guitarist and leader Jake Sucher’s compositions display thoughtful intent and mindfulness towards the bigger picture. With Sucher’s playful guitar, Anna Butterss’ adaptive bass, Ted Taforo’s wild sax, Jesse Quebbeman-Turley’s sculptor-ly drumming, and intermittent keyboard/laptop/vocal additions, Snow Nerds opt for humor that never stands in for earnestness, composition that prioritizes enjoyment, and musical effect over technical display. Snow Nerds reside in Los Angeles where certain like-minded scenes are beginning to flourish. Amidst playful jazz compatriots such as sister-band Logan Hone’s Similar Fashion, label-mate Alexander Noice’s Sextet, friends in Alex Wand's Desert Magic, as well as the “actual joy and positive change” of DIY-pop label Nicey Music, Gup Life dons the possibility of a new positive energy in motion.
