ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
soce, the elemental wizard
Level 27 Hip Hop Spellcaster

How many rappers do you know who play violin, write/direct/film ensemble comedy videos, co-host monthly math competitions, interview comedians and entertainers, write show reviews for NYC comedy blog The Apiary/culture blog City Scoops, review videogames for Way Too Hip Radio, produce music for other rappers and comedians - and also happen to be Jewish and gay?

soce, the elemental wizard does all this and more. This versatile performer brings his stage act to not only bars and comedy clubs, but also high schools and colleges (such as Bowdoin, VCU, Sarah Lawrence, Columbia, Yale, CCSU and Hunter College High School). In addition to performing 3-4 feature shows a week in the NYC area, he has toured internationally (in Germany and England) as well as across the United States (including MN, MA, LA, CA, NJ, LA, CT, NH, IA and IN).

soce was the featured announcer for the NYC gay pride parade in 2007 and 2008, and he will be so again in June 2009. Moreover, in 2008, soce took part in a gay rap competition on Sirius Shade 45 and won by an overwhelming response from the audience voters.

soce's smile and upbeat, positive attitude will win you over, while his unique story always makes for an entertaining article. Case in point - soce has been featured on MTV, VH1, Logo, and HERE, as well as in The Source, URB, Out magazine and numerous German, Austrian and Swiss magazines. Additionally, he has been interviewed live on WNYC 93.9 FM, Sirius Satellite Radio, OutQ 106 and Raw Dog Comedy 104.

"Master of Fine Arts" is soce's third release, providing the highly anticipated follow up of his first two albums, "I'm in My Own World" and "The Lemonade Incident." His latest album features guest vocals by gay rappers Deadlee and Tori Fixx, straight rapper Fresh Daily, jazz singer Julian Yeo, poet Jon Berger and American Idol Season One's Amnesia Sparkles. He made a conscious effort to write more radio-friendly fare this time around, including dirty south nerd jam "Internet Treasure Quest," salsa-style introversion creed "Moving On" and his theme song "They Call Me." He has created a variety of new club hits as well, such as "Squeeze" and "SMT". Even his more base tracks retain his trademark charm, helping to subvert the typical pop rap norms.

Hope you enjoy soce's latest CD! Stay on the look out for his fourth album, "Life Lessons," planned for release in 2011! To find out more about soce, visit greathiphop.com.
