Album Notes
"In my 10+ years of performing, I have never given a background vocalist as much free reign as Sol. The dude is an incredible talent." - Eric Roberson

The quote says it all. The voice is sincere, warm, strong and soothing. That voice belongs to SolEdler. "Sol," as he is known by most of his counterparts, is short for soldier-the meaning of his birth name, Troy. It also is the perfect description of his style of music, even if spelled differently.

Born in Washington, DC and brought up in its suburb of P.G. County, Maryland, Sol was taught the fundamentals and extensions of vocals in church singing with his sister and mother, then further honing his skills in Durham, NC in choirs in and around his alma mater, North Carolina Central University (with friend and classmate, Yahzarah).

After returning home, Sol made a name for himself in D.C.'s open-mic/poetry scene doing a combination of spoken word and singing when he happened upon a local act, Zwei and embarked on what can only be described as an expose' in D.C./MD/No.Va's talent pool-Song of Solomon.

Blending soul with all its roots and offspring, Song of Solomon explores old-school, 80's, hip-hop & neo-soul with an occassional splash of jazz for a truly loaded 11 song 14 track masterpiece.

If you are tired of the same voices and are looking for something different. Look no more. Sol's voice pulls you in and invites you into his world. Step Further has the makinga of a classic, and Here Am I make you want to surrender who YOU are. Made on modest budget, but not a CHEAP product. Pick it up and you will be happy with your purchase.

What I've been Waiting On!
This is a must have. A work of art. Soothing, ministering, enlightening and inspiring in every aspect. A gift to be shared with the world. Just when I thought that Sol's voice was perfect, he came through with this masterpiece and raised the mark that much higher and wowwed me! I am and will be supportive for anything this artist shares with the world.

fresh air to my mind/body/soul
such a beautiful collections of lyrical emotions that made me feel good and smile

Sol that's back to basics, but hardly basic. Classic!
Sol's "Song of Solomon" Book 1 is the hearty raindrop that forshadows the forthcoming storm, raining down a polyharmonic baritone tone that will stop catz and dawgs mid air, like "wha? who dat?" A debut project, it features Sol's strong, sensual vocals which do not mimic the cliche runs xerox'd by every other male vocalist in our soul/r&b landscape. "Touchable", "Step Further", "True Lies" and "Here Am I" are among my favorites. A testimony to his abilities as a poet, Sol's writing further distinguishes this project from the humdrum "baby baby baby, come here, look-at-chu, you so phyne". Look out for Sol on my next project. This brotha deserves to blow up (without going pop) and has the resolve and confidence to do so like no one else: Solfully.

Incredible talent
Wow, an exceptional, remarkable CD. Keep the soul in your music man.

In this age of over produced big budget extravaganzas, it is refreshing to hear a PURE vocal product. Pick it up and you won't be disappointed.

Rich, Warm, & Delicious Tone in this young mans voice!
...And the songs Kiss Mama, Remember Me, & Step Further are well worth the price of admission! Can't wait for another Sol Elder CD! :-) JD

Sol does indeed have SOUL.
With a tone like hot fudge over a cool sundae, Sol is no run of the mill artist. When you add great writing, immaculate production, optimum musicianship and the vocal confidence of a seasoned vet, "Song of Solomon Book 1" is no ordinary debut.

Tobi Brown

his voice is like silk
Its that type of music you dont hear anymore. Its like the old school music people still continue to buy because we miss that style. Song of Solomon brings all the flavor from the old school back to the new era. Added with sol's silky voice, it is raw talent at its finest.

Sol's cd is awesome !
This cd is really nice and mellow. i like the packaging and it is in heavy rotation for me ! right along with other semi- underground soul artists, eric roberson and rahsaan patterson !
