Album Notes
Born and raised in the South Bronx, Songlist discovered his love for music at a very young age. He sang along with artists on the radio, hoping to one day acquire the same success. It wasn't until his time at the prestigious Boys Choir of Harlem that he really begin to hone his skills by learning to read and compose music. With his freshly learned skills, and even bigger desire to follow his dreams, Songlist then began performing regularly throughout the 5 boroughs of New York, as well as various places along the east coast. Often a featured act at several venues in New York City - performing the underground hit "All That I Need," he gained enough exposure to land himself a position on MTV's "Industry Open Mic." In 2005, he "made it through" at American Idol tryouts, though obviously not having landed the highly coveted number one spot.
Continuing to pursue his dream to be the next American idol independently, Songlist has expanded his touring to much of the east coast while maintaining a strong presence in New York City - including an Oktoberfest performance as part of renowned radio station WBLS' line-up. While on tour he made several networking connections that led to collaborations with Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) and Fred the Godson, as well as many others that are pending release.
Commonly compared to Ne-Yo, Musiq Soulchild and R. Kelly, Songlist likes to describe himself as "an individual." In addition to reverbnation, youtube, and soundcloud, Songlist's online presence includes a feature on multi-platinum rapper 50 Cent's website, Thisis50.com and has accumulated nearly forty-thousand views on WorldStarHipHop.com where you can judge his sound for yourself.
