Album Notes
All selections are written and performed by regional musicians who share a common devotion to protecting and preserving the Illinois River for future generations. “Songs for the Illinois River" is the original benefit CD organized by members of Save The Illinois River, Inc., an organization dedicated to protecting and preserving Oklahoma's scenic river, its tributaries, and Lake Tenkiller. Recorded by Rickey Ray at the Ray Ranch Studio in Tahlequah, the CD was a year in the making, and features Randy Crouch, Dan Garber, Badwater, Mike Allen, and a host of other regional musicians, with styles ranging from jazz to Celtic to country to blues to rock’n’roll. Dennis Tibbits’ penned the thematic “Chicken Poop,” referring to ongoing litigation between river advocates and the poultry industry. All proceeds benefit STIR, Inc.
