Album Notes

The "Songs of the Gold Country" album is a community-based music project that aims to capture the spirit of this historic California region's music community, its artistic vibrancy, and the rich history and diverse beauty of the Gold Country through new original songs from local musicians - and share it with the world!

Music helps heal people and relationships, and creates positive connections and actions in any community. Our Gold Country music community is a shining example of what is possible when music is appreciated and utilized as a positive, connecting fabric in our daily lives!

The project started in August of 2016 with working titles for 14 songs that fit into a mosaic of music, painting a "melodic picture" of the people, history and landscape of the Gold Country. Concurrently, a group of talented local singer-songwriters who had demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the community through music were invited to write an original song from one of the 14 working song titles. A crowdfunding campaign was successfully launched to raise funds to offset the costs of the project.

The result has been a remarkable bounty of original folk, country, Americana and bluegrass-influenced songs coming to life! The songs cover topics ranging from the Wagon Train and Gold Rush to the high country and native lands of the western slope. The recordings of the songs have been completed using 30 different musicians, with a targeted release date of September 2017.

Like the history and landscape of the Gold Country, it is clear that there is something very special about the music community in our region, including the music, the musicians, the supporters and all of the venues that host and promote live local music activities. It really is something to behold!

We invite you to become a part of our special community, both with the recording and production of this special album and all the live music events and activities that will occur for years to come as a result of this project! Please join us on Facebook.
