ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The best I can remember, how I came up with the idea for the term, "songswarm", was from back in my JMI record days. Jack Clement used the word swarm when suggesting our musically minded group join another musically minded group, in other words, swarm their circle. It was a way to make a "joyful noise", Jack would say.

So, one night at the Bugle Boy in La Grange, TX, when Greg Whitfield and I were about to go on stage for a song swap, I asked Greg, "Would you mind if I "swarm" some of your songs should I feel moved to accompany you?"  He not only invited me to do so, but also asked if he could do the same!  I think that was the beginning...

Now, I'm an avid songswarmer engaging other songwriter performer musicians to join me! What makes a songswarm different from a "jam" is, participants must agree to play only their own original compositions, and also accompany others when it's their turn, even though the only information shared may be the key. There are no rehearsals, no charts, and often players are hearing the song for the first time.

The result is this album featuring great originals from Michael O'Connor, Jeff Plankenhorn, George Ensle, Jack Saunders, Greg Whitfield and me, Taylor Pie!  It's a cooperative effort of us songswarmers and the venues that booked us and allowed us to multi track record our songswarms in their listening room environments.

I can't thank enough, Lane at the Bugle Boy in La Grange, TX, (http://thebugleboy.org/); Kirby over at Austin City Jams in Austin, TX, (http://austincityjams.com/); and Rusty down at McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston, TX, (http://mcgonigels.com/), for supporting my dream to make this album come true.

I also want to thank Peter "Ren" Renfree and Aren Creative (http://www.arencreative.com/) for helping me listen to, Produce and mix the songs represented on this effort. His patience and caring attention to make the audio recreate each performance as if we're there listening with our eyes closed, has made this album shine!

Finally, without the help of PuffBunny Records and Kathryn Harrison, you, now the audience, wouldn't be holding this cd in your hands.

So, sit back, relax, and get ready for some original, recorded live, improvisational entertainment coming through your speakers. You are about to be songswarmed!
